The 2024 Reach-around Up

2024 was a big year for our social club. We set out with goals of collaborating with other clubs, adjacent organizations, and a tour. Several awesome opportunities sprung up along the way, and we were able to pivot and hook them in.

We’ve captured our firsts, the numbers, and the changes both from this year and forthcoming.

The firsts

First ever jack-off club to go on tour

While we can’t claim the first ever jack-off tour (shout to BBXL BATE BROS), we are the first jack-off club to go on tour. This was a milestone for the jack-off club community and shows it can be done! For National Masturbation Month (May), we set off to visit several cities at the three points of the Texas Triangle with our Texas Triangle Tour. Several of you from Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Waco, Bryan/College Station, and Austin came out to experience social masturbation! We had a great time meeting y’all at our social events at each stop too. Thanks for coming out and having fun with us. We’ve been asked if we would do a tour again. A tour is a huge undertaking, so we’re still not sure. But we’d love to!

First online event

To celebrate our 1-year-ish anniversary, we had three events: HIGH NOON GOON (a lunch bate), SUNDOWN SHOWDOWN (an evening bate), and our first ever online bate via Zoom, MUSK AT DUSK. We had many new faces because of it. We’re already a “mobile club” (we can host anywhere), but adding a virtual component was something new for us. The guys had a great time!

First sponsored events

Our friends at Brosquirt, an Austin-based apparel company sponsored two of our events this year. They provided us with lube, wipes, and Brosquirt swag. We love working with local businesses that understand and support our mission. We were super appreciative of their help. They were great to work with.

First giveaway

For our April event, the Egg Challenge, we partnered with Bator Balm to do our first giveaway. Bators competed to win the bator dopp kit filled with awesome Bator Balm items, such as lube, rag, and more. Whomever came on the giant egg last won the giveaway. The winning bator gave us quite a show. He edged so much that he convulsed and collapsed on the egg as he came. The egg is cracked, though. (Pun intended.)

First private event

This year we focused on collaborating with many organizations and businesses that were adjacent to ours, such as Austin Kink Weekend, Bator Balm, and Austin Naked Yoga. When ANY’s annual summer camp was approaching, we reached out to figure out how we can collaborate with them. In the end, we provided a special, steamy one-off event in a campground bunkhouse that many enjoyed. While all of our events are private, this was our first paid event and exclusive to ANY’s attendees. All proceeds went towards paying for event supplies and our website. Thanks again for having us, Austin Naked Yoga!

First podcast interviews

We were also interviewed by our favorite podcasts, Bate Escape in California and Naked Men Talking in the UK. Shout to BeastlyB8R and Gareth from NMT for being great hosts and chatting with us.

Special shoutout to our brothers at Rain City Jacks and Denver Jacks for mentioning us.

Other special moments

We met so many awesome guys (and people) from our tour and local events that gave us warm vibes.

From the guy who came in wearing a harness for a security blanket, only to leave it discarded when he felt comfortable. To the nonbinary person (with a penis) who felt welcomed among bros. To the bator whose therapist encouraged him to stretch his social anxiety with us. And all the bators who made bate buds. To all of you who were anxious and scared but were brave and dove in… greasy hands first.

Of note: Voters and veterans

We celebrated bators who have voted and served this year by providing a discount and waiving event dues at our VOTER BATE and SALUTE YOUR VET events, respectively. Voting bators showed proof of active voter registration and our veteran or active duty bators showed their IDs and dog tags. It was an honor to throw these events for our bators.

The numbers

We debated sharing all the nerdy numbers from our spreadsheets and decided to only share the ones that were most interesting.

32 events

This year was our first full year of events we had regular events, specially-themed events, and social events at local breweries and food truck parks. We also had the aforementioned tour and private event. We started the year during two to three events and reduced the amount of events to just one for the last quarter. We did this for personal reasons but also, there’s more competition during their holidays for family and work events.

A bator made cookies for our event. Our sponsor, Brosquirt provided the swag.

511 bator visits

In 2023, we had around 300 bator visits to our events, so it was amazing to see that number increase. But on many occasions, it did leave us realizing that we’re going to need a bigger space soon. Bator visits is overall count of how many visits we had in 2024, not how many unique visits we had.

52% increase in attendance

This year, the amount of guys who RSVP’d to our events and showed up improved by 52% from 2023. Word of mouth and reputation likely helped this the most. We also introduced online orientations to help curb anxiety and instituted a 3-strike rule for newbies (no-shows are a drain to our resources). Many bators who attend finally after putting it off or pushing through their anxiety mentioned being happy and relieved that they did.

4 club visits

Whenever we can, we try to exemplify brotherhood with other clubs by visiting and leaving a load or two. This year, we were able to attend the 44th anniversary of NY Jacks, where we bated with well over 80 bators and dined with the guys from Philly Jacks and Healthy Friction. NY Jacks is the eldest jack-off club in the world, so it was an honor to meet the team behind the club. We revisited Denver Jacks, LAX Jacks, and Rain City Jacks. All were very impressive and embodied their hometown’s sexy. We’d love to visit more brother clubs next year.

Testi-moan-ials

The data points that really matter.

  • “I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I love this group.” — A bator

  • “Best $20 I’ve ever spent.” — A bator from the tour

  • “Best $15 I’ve ever spent.” — A bator from a regular event

  • “This is one of Austin’s amazing organizations. I highly recommend it to anyone who is curious about it! A great time always had by all!” — Brosquirt

  • “I thank you for all you're doing to build an active community here in Austin. I've been here over 30 years now, and this is the first time I believe I'm witnessing what appears to be a safe, sex positive bate club getting the traction you have. You're on track. Grateful.” — A bator

The changes

This year, we switched some things around that threw some of you for a loop. Sorry about that. We’re maturing and figuring out who we are as an organization. Here’s what we were up to:

Newcummer portal

We re-worked our page for first-timers with a first time step-by-step walkthrough, online orientation booker, and a robust selection of Frequently Asked Questions. We’re always improving this area of our website as it’s the entry point for our club, so it’s super important.

Online orientation

We introduced online orientation via Zoom to help ease first timer anxiety. Orientations continues to confuse folks, so we’re working on clarifying. In short, orientations are mandatory to attend our events. We offer them as in-person orientations at the event or online orientations when they’re available. Online orientations aren’t always available. We’re hoping next year we’ll have volunteers set to provide regular orientations.

Volunteering

It was always our hope that we’d develop a community that our guys would start to feel ownership of the club and events. This year, we started to feel that bond and trust with our guys. The guys would offer to help out more (which we enthusiastically accepted). We created a volunteer program so that guys can help us out with tasks, like checking IDs, giving in-person orientations, help with wayfinding and coat check, as well as clean up after events. In exchange for their help, we dismiss the event fee. In addition to the guys feeling more a part of a community, it’s been a huge help to us organizers. We’re a lot less frazzled and can enjoy events more.

Some changes for next year

We’ve learned a lot over the past 25 months of running Austin Jacks. As you’ve read above, there’s a lot that goes into gathering guys to jack off together. The organizers of Austin Jacks will be working on the next iteration of Austin Jacks.

Streamlining

We’ve begun paring down things that we don’t need anymore. We’ll continue looking at processes and tools used to get up and running, so that we can scale and do cooler things one day, like another tour or a larger annual event.

A big break for big things

We’ve been able to do everything so far with just two guys (and our growing number of volunteers). We’ll be looking to expand the team of two with a board of directors and find a space for our club. After months of talking about it, we’ll launch memberships with club swag and merch. To gear up for this, we’ll be pausing in-person bate events until April to work on the next iteration of Austin Jacks. We’ll likely schedule in-person socials and online bates in the meantime, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter.

We enjoy fostering our Austin Jacks community because it’s important for the men of Austin to have a third space to hang with other guys — and enjoy themselves safely and responsibly. We’re very much looking forward to the next iteration of our social club. Cheers to the new year, y’all!
